This year on December 31st I was at the movie theatre seeing New Year's Eve. If you don't know, New Year's Eve is about inter-related people that celebrate New Year's Eve in different ways. This festive and fun movie had its laughs but it was definitely not oscar worthy. I would still recommend seeing it.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1
Last week I went to see the new Twilight movie and it was great. Out of all of them I think that Breaking Dawn was the best. Honestly when I saw the first one, I thought it was horrible. It was a good story but the actual movie itself was not very well done. Slowly they started to progress though and I think that with Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 they finally got it right. There were some disturbing scenes, particularly the birth scene, but all in all it was a great movie. You should definitely see it.

Hunger Games Trailer
Another popular book-turned-movie is the Hunger Games Trilogy. A lot of people recommended that I read it and I finally did. I finished it a few weeks ago and I loved. I thought it would be weird and geeky but it actually was pretty good. Now I am very excited for the movie which comes out March 23, 2012. The reason that I am mentioning it now is because the trailer just premiered yesterday and it got me excited. The Hunger Games takes place in the future when America is torn up and called Panem. Every year a "hunger games" is held and a boy and a girl from each district participates. When Katniss Everdeen's (Jennifer Lawrence) little sister Prim is chosen for the girl tribute, she decides to take her place. The boy tribute is Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Also starring in this movie is Liam Hemsworth, known for his role in The Last Song, who plays Katniss' best friend Gale. It is really good and you should definitely see it!
Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1
Breaking Dawn is one of the most anticipated movies this year. Ever since the book came out. twi-hards have been waiting for this Friday. In Breaking Dawn, Bella and Edward finally get married. On their honeymoon, Bella finds out that (I thought this was really weird but whatever) she is pregnant with a half human half vampire baby (????). She finds out that this baby is not compatible with her body and is eating her from the inside out (that's the vampire half). Also, the werewolves are trying to kill her and her unborn child. But don't worry, Jacob is on Bella's side. Bella wants this child to be born no matter what, something that Edward does not agree with and sort of drives him insane. The graphic birth scene almost pushed this movie over to R rated but the director and editors toned it down a little bit. It looks exciting and kind of weird but I will definitely see. If you didn't see the first three movies you might not understand it at all but you can always try : )
Also someone asked me what the rating was for a past movie so from now on I will include the rating in my post.
Rating: PG-13

In Time
A new movie just came out that looks really cool. It's called In Time. It is set in the future. In this world, people stop aging at 25.On their 25th birthday, a glowing green clock appears on their arm, counting down the days in a year. When the clock stops, you die. You have to pay for everything with time. There is only one way to gain time. You steal it from someone else. Will Salas (Justin Timberlake) has done this. He has had 3 extra years and now he is accused of murder and decides to run away with a hostage (Amanda Seyfried). I can't wait to see this movie! It looks really good. Here's the trailer in case you haven't seen it yet.

Moneyball
I have just made a new post about Mighty Macs, the true story of Immaculata College's 1972 basketball team. Coming out soon is a similar movie. Moneyball is a true story about the Oakland A's general manager (Brad Pitt) that realizes that baseball's conventional wisdom is wrong. He decides to reinvent his team with very little money. He teams up with a college graduate (Jonah Hill) and starts recruiting players that other scouts have passed over. This team challenges the laws and traditions of baseball and revolutionizes the game.
I am excited to see this one as well. I love baseball and I think that this will be a great movie. Let me know in the comments if you've seen it and what you think about this movie.

Mighty Macs
Some people may know that a movie is being made on Immaculata College's 1972 basketball coach. Starring Carla Gugino and David Boreanaz (who is from around this area. He went to Rosemont School of the Holy Child, Malvern Preparatory School, and graduated from Ithaca College.) Mighty Macs is about Cathy Rush, a newly married woman, that decides to coach the women's basketball team at Immaculata College. She is faced with many challenges such as the fact that there is no gymnasium on campus, little if not no support from the head of school, and the limited school funds. Although it seems as though the Mighty Macs have no chance of making it anywhere, maybe their prayers will pull through :)
I was interested in this because Immaculata College is close to me. I hear people all talking about how they know people in the movie and how cool it is so I hope I will get to see it soon. Post a comment if you have seen it to let me know how it is.
